The National Indian Education Association is partnering with Kairos Canada to provide a Blanket Healing Exercise and Facilitator Training. The KAIROS Blanket Exercise program is a unique, participatory history lesson –- developed in collaboration with Indigenous Elders, knowledge keepers and educators –- that fosters truth, understanding, respect, and reconciliation among Indigenous and nonindigenous peoples. The exercise leads participants through a historical narrative experience that quickly and effectively informs the participants about the truths left out of educational systems about Native peoples.
Participants in this training will not only have the opportunity to participate in the Blanket Healing Exercise they will also become certified facilitators of the exercise through the Facilitator Training being offered so that they may implement the exercise in their own local communities.
Registration is free but space is limited to the first 30 registrants. Participants must attend all 3 days to become a certified facilitator.
