On October 17, 2018, CSBG Tribal Training & TA team collaborated with the Office of Community Services (OCS) to hold the Fall Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Tribal Network Update Session. These live, online sessions are hosted throughout the year to provide an opportunity for CSBG Tribal grantees to stay up-to-date on CSBG news, federal updates, available resources, and updated program information. The session summary is now available to view online.
Thank you to Leslie Jonas, Darlene Scott and their team at the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe for volunteering to serve as the Fall CSBG Tribal Grantee Spotlight. Leslie and Darlene shared the history of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, their steps towards Federal recognition, and their CSBG Program mission and activities. The presentation highlighted the financial challenges they’ve overcome by working with staff volunteers and partnering with public and private agencies. They shared how their unique partnerships, such as the fish seizure program with Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, have allowed the Food Pantry to grow in their mission of fighting hunger. The presentation also highlighted the importance of food sovereignty and the next steps for the Food Pantry program. View or download the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s presentation.
