Seeds of Native Health

This is the only conference series in the world devoted to the food and nutrition of Indigenous Peoples. It brings together tribal officials, researchers, practitioners, funders and others to discuss the current state of Indigenous and academic scientific knowledge about Native nutrition, dietary health, and food science, and identify new areas of work.

Sessions at the Fourth Annual Conference on Native American Nutrition this fall will explore youth voices, urban and rural nutrition issues, and more.

Confirmed speakers include Abigail Echo-Hawk, director of the Urban Indian Health Institute, Chef Sean Sherman, founder of The Sioux Chef, and Beverly Stabber Warne, RN, MSN, from South Dakota State University College of Nursing.

This year’s event will be held in conjunction with the Native American Journalists Association’s annual National Native Media Conference. In addition to programming exclusively related to Native nutrition, the two conferences will have joint sessions that will focus on telling the stories of our work in Native food and nutrition.
